What we Believe!
The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
God
There is only one living and true God. He is intelligent, spiritual, and personal and is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is holy and perfect in all aspects. As Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, He reveals Himself to us through the Bible and Jesus.
God the Father
He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. He reigns with providential care over the universe and the flow of human history goes according to His purposes and plan.
Jesus (The Son)
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus became a man at His incarnation. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. After three days, He bodily arose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven, and He will return in power and glory to judge the world.
Holy Spirit
He is the third Person of the Trinity and is co-equal with the Father and Son. When we accept Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us. His presence in our life offers us the assurance of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
Eternity
Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God means you will exist in a place called Hell. To be eternally in union with Christ is to live eternally in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places.
Salvation
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when we place our faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. Because salvation and grace begin and end with God, our salvation is eternally secure. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, and not by the self-effort of the Christian.
The Church
The church is a local community of baptized believers, unified through faith in Jesus Christ. A local church is to observe the two ordinances: (1) baptism and (2) the Lord’s Supper. The church is committed to the teachings of Christ, to obey His commands, and to bring the gospel to the world. The church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
Man
Man was created by God in His image, meaning eternal or with a soul. Man was created to have fellowship with God, but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
